Hallo, I’m Danica!

I’m thrilled to meet you virtually and I’m so excited to possibly be meeting you in person!

Get to know me:

-First and foremost, I love God and His people, which includes you ;)

-I am such a family girl, and I love being the eldest daughter. (I think it’s so true that being the eldest daughter means you’re born to be the family manager, it has given me years of experience to plan your special day as well).

-My name means the ‘morning star of God’, and I try my best to live up to that by shining His light every day.

-My favourite ‘off’ day includes watching my boyfriend’s cricket, sipping some rooibos tea and reading. I always joke and say that watching him play cricket is my hobby, but it truly calms me so much and the presence of the Holy Spirit feels so tangible sitting on the sidelines.

-Speaking of him, Maritz is the most loving, hard-working, kind and joyful person you will probably ever meet. His mere existence constantly reminds me of the goodness of God and inspires me to pursue the path that the Lord has chosen for me. The Selah story is just as much his as it is mine, and there is no one else that I would rather pause and reflect with for the rest of my life.

Our story

Selah’s metaphorical birth started when I was in 9th grade when I jotted down the word when I was doing my daily Bible study. To me, at the time, it was just a pretty word that I didn’t know the meaning of. Fast forward to when I had to choose subjects and I was pleading with God to show me what He wanted me to do with my life, I was reminded of this pretty world, that would soon become the anthem of my life…

A little side-note: I have always been a number-based dreamer- what an unseemly combination, I know (hence me studying accounting and being a full-time florist and wedding planner :)).

I constantly felt led by the Spirit to look up the Biblical meaning of how many times Selah is mentioned in the Bible, which turns out to be 74 times. Low and behold, this marked the moment that Selah was etched into my heart, as I read the words: ‘74 in Biblical terms means:

There it was: the confirmation that the countless hours of Say Yes To The Dress that I had watched in my mom’s wedding dress as a little girl wasn’t for nothing, it was simply Jesus’s gentle way of preparing me for a career, or rather the lifestyle, that He has chosen for me.

I firmly believe that a blessing isn’t a blessing if you only keep it to yourself, that’s why I will proclaim the faithfulness of God through my own Selah story forever, in hopes that it might inspire you to pause and reflect upon the small details that are weaved throughout your life.

In the winter of 2022, years later, the Lord made it evident, once again through numbers, that it was time for Selah to be shared with the world (keep an eye out for the full blog post coming soon). It feels like I am inviting you into my inner room, and you are so welcome.

Marriage is the highest covenant. How powerful must it be that He deems it worthy to be compared to our relationship with Him? That is exactly why I believe Selah has been inspired by the Spirit: so that I can stand in the gap for you, so that you only have to focus on the eternity to come, rather than using the time of your engagement to stress about all of the little details.

The Lord is amplified through our testimonies, and that is why we invite the Holy Spirit into the entire process because when we live in obedience, His promises are brought into fulfilment!

Welcome to the Selah table, my dearest friend, you are so welcome here.

Let’s take a step back and marvel at the splendour of your most special day. A lifetime filled with Selah moments for you is exactly what I ask for when I lift you up when I pray.
